Summer 2024
Planning a new construction project or a service upgrade? Make sure your to-do list includes a call to Madison Gas and Electric (MGE)—the sooner, the better. Applying for natural gas and electric service up front gives us time to review your plans, inspect the project site and schedule a timely installation.
A service installation is not instantaneous. Proper preparation is required. A variety of factors can impact the installation process, such as the complexity of the project, the season of the year and weather conditions. Additionally, MGE may need to make adjustments or install equipment to accommodate a new service extension.
"With so many moving pieces, the earlier in the process we know about your plans, the better positioned we are to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible," said Greg Meyer, Director Electric Engineering - Electric Distribution Engineering.
Don't assume another project partner arranged service with MGE or wait until you break ground to contact us. This likely will result in delays and unplanned costs.
MGE engineers will review your project specifications to plan the installation and calculate any applicable costs. In addition to the service address, customer information and builder information, provide us with these details as soon as possible:
We also need to know if there are any existing underground customer-owned facilities at the project site.
