MGE Natural Gas Rates and Rules  

MGE takes seriously our responsibility to provide safe, reliable energy at reasonable rates. We work hard to control our costs. In 2023, MGE filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase natural gas rates in 2024. The PSCW approved some of MGE's requests, setting our natural gas rates. Effective Jan. 1, 2024, the approved natural gas distribution and gas supply service rates reflect an overall increase of 2.44% across all customers in 2024.

The primary reasons for the gas increase are continued investments in system modernization projects to maintain a safe and dependable system and the collection of the escrow accounts for uncollectible costs, including costs related to COVID.
