Join MGE at the KidWind Challenge
Join MGE at the Wisconsin KidWind Challenge! The challenge is organized by the nonprofit KidWind, which brings renewable energy education to youth and educators through lessons, workshops and challenges.
Each spring, third through 12th graders from across the state design and build small-scale wind turbines and solar structures to measure power output. The teams gather at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to put their structures to the test.
The Wisconsin KidWind Challenge also is open to educators through workshops. Teachers design and build model wind turbines to test in a wind tunnel. They experiment with blade size, shape and pitch to help them understand what it’s like to be a student on a KidWind team.
Look for MGE at the Wisconsin KidWind Challenge! With MGE’s Pedal Power bike, students can experience firsthand how their energy pedaling generates electricity. MGE’s Energy Experts also will share tips on energy efficiency and strategies for reaching our goal of net-zero carbon electricity by 2050.
